Events held at the regional and sub-regional level bring together diverse groups of stakeholders in order to share knowledge and, best practices and to provide networking opportunities to strengthen collaborative efforts in relation to economic citizenship for children and youth.
The fourth CYFI Regional Meeting for Africa was held in Accra, Ghana in November 2015, organized jointly by CYFI together with Microfinance and Small Loans Center (MASLOC) and the Youth Enterprise Support (YES). The meeting focused on creating new partnerships across various sectors in the region, and included a regional Youth Meeting and Ye! Pitching event for young entrepreneurs as well.
The third Regional Meeting for the Americas and the Caribbean was held in Guatemala City, Guatemala in 2014, in conjunction with the Ninth Congress of Remittances, Microfinance and Banking Services. The meeting continued the dialogue within the region between the private sector and the public sector, with a special focus on the issues of remittances, microfinance and banking.
The second Regional Focus Group Meeting and Workshops for Asia and the Pacific was held in Malaysia in 2014, organized as a pre-summit meeting to the Citi-FT Financial Education Summit 2014. The meeting and workshop series served as a concrete platform for representatives to innovate and collaborate around economic citizenship for youth.
This meeting built on the successes of the first Regional Meeting for Asia and the Pacific hosted by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in the Philippines in 2012, which had delegates from 20 APAC countries.
Three Regional Meetings have been held in Europe and Central Asia. The 2014 Regional Meeting for Europe and Central Asia was held in Macedonia - organized jointly by the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia and CYFI and hosted by the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia. Regional Meetings have also been held in Belgium
The first Regional Meeting for the region was held in Belgium in 2012, hosted by the Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority. The 2013 Regional Meeting for Europe and Central Asia was held in Germany, hosted by the European Central Bank.
The Middle East and North Africa has hosted two regional meetings. The 2015 Regional Meeting and Workshop for the Middle East and North Africa took place in Egypt in November 2015. The event was structured around the global inclusion agenda, which was an opportunity for stakeholders and decision makers in the region to discuss financial inclusion and entrepreneurship strategies for children and youth. The 2012 Regional Meeting for the region took place in Lebanon, hosted in collaboration with the Union of Arab Banks.
